Rathbone Square, a former Royal Mail site, has been transformed into a new publicly-accessible garden square. The central, 1,800m² public garden is a calm, secluded space designed by Gustafson Porter + Bowman. The garden’s plan is defined by bold geometric shapes which are clearly visible from the surrounding apartments and offices, now occupied by Facebook as their central London headquarters. The central lawn is framed by a sculpted timber bench, shade tolerant planting and semi-mature Gingko and Gleditsia trees. The raised planters create integrated benches and allow sufficient soil depth for Cherry and Magnolia trees. Lendlease was responsible for the realisation of the garden and  Van den Berk Nurseries supplied all the trees.
Rathbone square has received multiple awards after its completion in 2018. To read more about this project go to: http://www.gp-b.com/rathbone-square
